The club uses various signals, gestures and signs additional to the Highway Code, which are as follows. 


Note that these are advisory, you are responsible at all times for your safety.


You should not undertake other riders at any time.

Shouts
Hole Pothole or other obstacle in the road to avoid
Gravel Loose gravel or similar across the road
Slowing Warning that a rider is slowing down, possibly coming to a halt
Stopping Warning that a rider is stopping
Car Down / Front Car or another vehicle coming towards the rider from the front
Car Up / Behind Car or another vehicle coming towards the ride from behind
Clear At junctions individual riders will use the shout to indicate to the nearest rider that there are no hazards or vehicles approaching requiring the rider to stop.
Moving Out Moving out from the kerb to avoid an obstruction or to overtake other rider(s). You must look behind to ensure nothing is coming toward you.
Moving In Moving into the line of riders to avoid obstruction or vehicles overtaking
Branch / Tree Obstruction or other obstacle in the road or hedgerow (e.g. tree, branch) to avoid
Signals
Moving Out Signalling right and so moving out. Arm at approximately 45% so not a full right turn signal. Signal may also be made with the left arm behind the riders back pointing to the right
Moving In Signalling left and so moving in. Arm at approximately 45% so not a full left turn signal. Signal may also be made with the arm behind the riders back pointing to the left
Slowing Slowing moving hand up and down, palm down
Pothole or hazard e.g. loose gravel Pointing at thigh level in the direction of the obstacle, with a wagging or circular hand
